Our Top Tips For Sharing a Bed With A Partner

Posted on by Sleep Expert

We are all well aware that getting a full night of uninterrupted sleep is necessary for our overall health and wellbeing. But what happens when you share a bed with someone and their sleeping schedule doesn’t match yours? There are many compromises and decisions that have to be made when you begin sharing a bed with another person and even the most in-sync couples can find this a challenging task. In this article, we will be giving you all of our top tips that will help you sleep comfortably at night, alongside your partner.

Separate Duvets Or Oversized Duvet

Do you sleep with someone who constantly takes all the duvet? We have a name for that here at The Fine Bedding Company - A duvet hog! It can be freezing outside and can still find ourselves waking up in the middle of the night, with no covers at all. If this sounds like your situation, we have a couple of solutions which may benefit you.

Firstly, why not try separate duvets? In many countries, it’s actually typical to have two separate single duvets, rather than having one double, king or superking between you. It prevents any duvet-wrestling late at night and puts a complete stop to one of you waking up cold whilst the other continues to sleep peacefully, wrapped up in the bed covers.

Or, if that’s feasible for you and your partner, why not try an oversized duvet? With a double bed, we are accustomed to buying a duvet which typically fits this size. But, what about buying a King or even a Queen size duvet instead? That will leave plenty of cover for both you and your partner!

Smart Temperature Bedding

As well as hogging the duvet, another common problem is the ideal sleeping temperature - it differs for everyone! We all have our favourite and ‘perfect’ sleeping conditions. Some of us like to sleep with a warm, thick duvet all year round, whereas others could think of nothing worse. Some like to have a fan constantly on as they drift off, whereas others prefer to have the heating on full blast. This can become a real issue when it begins to affect you and your partner's sleeping schedule. Of course, there is an element of compromise involved to share a bed, but what if we told you, you didn’t have to make a choice when it comes to what temperature you can sleep in?

Smart Temperature Duvet Cover

Our Smart Temperature Duvet Cover is the ideal solution for those searching for a complete temperature management sleep system. With a soft 200 thread count, this duvet cover uses unique Smart Temp™ technology. The Smart Temperature Duvet Cover uses a dynamic cooling system, designed to help you feel cool and comfortable throughout the night.

The intelligent thermoregulation system works by sensing an increase in your body’s overall temperature and activates a unique cooling effect; and when body temperature drops, the reduced body heat will guide the cooling effect to ease back so that you won’t feel as cold.

If that wasn’t enough, we also have a Smart Temperature Fitted Sheet, which uses the same Smart Temp™ technology and will make you feel even more comfortable throughout the night. This collection is ideal for those couples not looking to compromise on their ideal sleeping temperature.

Sleeping Accessories: Eye Mask

For some couples, finding the same sleeping schedule as your other half can be a difficult task. Some of us are born night owls, whilst the others are more of a morning bird. This can be a detrimental mix that could affect both of your natural sleeping patterns. The Sleep Experts here at The Fine Bedding Company always suggest tapping into the world of sleeping accessories when things like this begin to affect you. If your other half is constantly up late into the night, maybe on their phone or reading, that can really keep you up as well. By putting on an eye mask, you can block out all of their activities and help lull you into a comfortable night’s sleep.
