It’s 2021, and as ever, sustainability is still of vital importance. We believe in steering away from using materials that may end up unrecyclable and the importance to strive for change and innovation in production and the materials we use.
At The Fine Bedding Company, we have been consistent in our efforts to be more sustainable since our first carbon footprint study on a washable duvet in 2013 and introducing 30% renewable energy into production in the same year, all the way to 100% renewable energy in 2017. In 2020, we reached a 35% reduction in our carbon footprint compared to our 2017 benchmark. You can learn more about our award-winning factory here.
We have a responsibility to our environment, and as part of our commitment, we have been able to make luxury out of recycled plastic bottles. We take disregarded plastic bottles, shred them, melt them, and then turn them into fibres to create a soft and luxurious feel for our Eco Duvet; that’s a traceable, sustainable luxury, that meets the Global Recycle Standard.
Why Do I Need an Eco Duvet?
Made in our award-winning purpose-built factory in Estonia, the Eco-Duvet is one of the most sustainable duvets you could buy. As The Fine Bedding Company were the first to bring a fully recycled duvet to the UK market, this is a switch you can trust.
The cover and filling are made up of 100% recycled materials - In fact, it takes approximately 120 bottles to make up a 10.5 tog double duvet. The bottles we use in our process are being saved from ending up in the ocean or landfills, keeping wildlife safe and offering the world a more sustainable future; so by purchasing an Eco Duvet, you’re doing your bit and sleeping in soft, luxurious comfort.
