This spring marks a proud moment in our journey at The Fine Bedding Company – we’re celebrating 25 incredible years since the launch of our pioneering Estonian Eco Factory. What began in April 2000 as a small-scale operation has since flourished into one of Europe’s leading centres for sustainable bedding innovation and ethical manufacturing.
From the start, our factory has embodied the values that make us who we are: environmentally responsible production, forward-thinking design, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time. Over the years, the site has evolved into a powerful example of what sustainable manufacturing can achieve.
A Factory That Runs on Values – and 100% Renewable Energy
Our Estonian facility has been at the forefront of innovation. It’s not only powered by 100% renewable energy but also operates on a zero-waste model. Ongoing investments in clean energy have included the installation of air source heat pumps, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and boosting our overall energy efficiency.
These milestones aren't just about technology, they’re about long-term impact. From our proprietary Smartfil® fibre to seam-free Sonic Seam® technology, the innovations born in our factory have helped redefine what better, more sustainable bedding, looks like.

At the heart of our success are the people who bring our vision to life every day. The factory now employs over 110 skilled individuals – a workforce that has doubled in the last decade. Many have been with us from the very beginning, including sisters Lea and Anne Proosa, who joined in 2000 and remain part of our team 25 years on. Their dedication is the thread that ties our past to our future.
Giving Back to the Community & Planet
We’re committed to creating more than just bedding – we’re building meaningful connections within our local community and doing our part to support Estonia’s beautiful landscape. From donating sewing machines to local schools and inviting students into the factory, to supporting foster care programmes, elderly homes and even volunteers in Ukraine, our team is always looking for ways to make a difference. We also recently introduced 3 beehives to the factory grounds, helping to support local biodiversity.
A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Collaboration
To honour this milestone, we hosted a celebration event this month at our Estonian factory. A special day with our founding family, board members, long-standing retail partners , and of course, the entire Estonian team. Together, we celebrated the people and partnerships that have made this journey possible.
