Experts agree – sleep CAN make you more attractive!

We love our new Sleeping Beauty range, especially as it comes with a free gift of luxe skincare from Flint + Flint. So we wanted to ask some rather brilliant experts all about the benefits of sleep and particularly the effect it has on the we look and our skin. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing their best advice and beauty sleep hacks.

First up is make-up artist Kit Hall. Kit’s worked with party queen Lilly Allen, plus Hot Chip and Ke$ha, and is currently the make-up designer on The Last Leg, Russell Howard’s Good News and Have I Got News For You. Therefore, she knows all about how people look when they’ve been burning the midnight oil!

“When someone hasn’t had a  good night’s sleep, skin can look dull with visible bags around eyes. Fine lines and wrinkles are also accentuated,” she says.

“My advice is always to get more sleep, but as a short term fix I would get them to drink lots of water as it’s vital to hydrate from the inside and out. Then I give an express facial massage to stimulate blood flow and  encourage the glow to come back! Tapping around the orbital bone helps to decrease the appearance of fine lines. If  possible I then apply an express face mask for 5 minutes and follow this with a rehydrating moisturiser. Then I  can get cracking with make up!

“For a ‘fresh and awake’ make-up, apply an illuminating primer and a light foundation, tinted moisturiser or BB cream. Add concealer under the eyes and a pop of pink or coral on the cheeks. I would define all the way around the eyes with a smudged eyeliner and mascara. All of these things will draw attention away from the bags under the eyes. A nice bright lip will also help.”
