“We all know the benefits of a great night’s sleep and the link between rest and recovery and peak athletic performance is proven. We’re therefore delighted to be sponsoring Northwest Football Award’s Woman’s Player of the Year, and to be part of celebrating these amazing athletes at the top of their game.” Claire Watkin, Managing Director.
Over the coming months, thousands of fans have voted for a variety of honours, including the Women’s Player of the Year. It’s been an amazing year for Women in Football specifically the Northwest, with Manchester City Women winning at least three awards in the last year.
With the polls now closed the shortlist of finalists are as follows;
- Jamie Lee McDowell of Chester
- Gabby George of Everton Ladies
- Caroline Weir of Liverpool
- Lucy Bronze of Manchester City, but who recently signed for Lyon
We can also announce that the Women’s Rising Star finalists consist of;
- Naimh Charles of Liverpool Ladies
- Megan Finnigan of Everton Ladies
- Becky Tebb of Chester
- Keira Walsh of Manchester City
The winners will be announced at the awards night on the 13th November and we couldn’t be more excited to be official partners and sponsor the Women’s Player of the Year for the Northwest Football Awards.
The Northwest Football Awards (NWFA) will be celebrating it’s tenth anniversary this year and is officially hosted by Dan Walker of Football Focus and BBC Breakfast. Dan will also be presenting and announcing the awards which celebrate the region’s footballing elite. The event pays tribute to individuals who have achieved excellence both on and off the field in 2017. Not only will the Premier League payers be recognised, but non-league Men’s and Women’s teams have also been put forward.
Sleep is a crucial element in sports and exercise performance along with recovery, so the partnership is something we are very keen to promote. With this in mind we will be focusing on exercise and sleep and the benefits they have for one another throughout the month, so keep your eyes peeled for more info, stats and facts over the coming weeks on our blog. We’ll also keep you up to date with the awards.
