Keep cool when things get hot

Soaring temperatures this weekend are a welcome break from the dreariness us Brits experienced for much of last month.  The better weather is great for our moods, motivation and increasing our vitamin D levels (just be sure to stay safe and use plenty of sunscreen!).  However, the increase in mercury is not so great for our sleep, with many of us complaining of disturbed sleep through the summer months.  Hot, stuffy bedrooms and unsuitable bedding can be key causes so we’ve outlined some top tips on how to keep your cool through the night and wake up feeling refreshed.


The air in your bedroom needs chance to circulate, so either open a window a few hours before you head to bed, or buy a small fan to help.


Keeping your body hydrated throughout the day by drinking lots of water will not only keep you refreshed but more importantly will prevent dehydration from disturbing your slumber.


Opting for light, breathable fabrics like cotton and silk when choosing your summer nightwear will help stop you overheating.  Certain fabrics can have the opposite effect as they are not naturally breathable, and so trap in the warm air on your skin.

Check your tog.

Many people make the mistake of thinking the duvet they’ve used for Spring will be fine to continue to use through the Summer.  This may not be the case! We recommend swapping your duvet for a lower 4.5 tog for summer months to get a better night’s sleep.

Climate control.

Don’t be a hothead.
