Whether you are part of a pair or independently single, Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to treat both yourself and your loved one. As sleep lovers, we are all for a bit of romance, but with the weather looking a bit rubbish and the January sales now over, February is generally a month to stay in and save as opposed to splurge.
With this in mind we’ve come up with some ideas on how to save vs. spend this St Valentine’s Day. Not only that, but they are quick and easy to prepare, so can be pulled together last minute. You can thank us on 15th February.
Candle Lit Dinner – Meal Out vs. Home Cooked Meal
As inspired by Disney’s Lady and the Tramp, what could be more romantic than a candle lit dinner? When you’re on a budget though, even the price of the cheapest restaurant can sneakily creep up and up, so we suggest you cook your loved one’s favourite meal. Not only will it take away the hassle of travel and additional costs, but there are bonus points too if you don’t normally cook. Just add candles and romantic music.
Can’t cook? A cheeky take-away should also do the trick.
Night At The Movies – Cinema vs. Home Movie
Low lighting, popcorn and good movie were once the go to for Valentine’s perfection, but once you’ve totalled up the price of your ticket, a drink and the compulsory snack or two, you realise why the movie business is a multi-billion pound industry. Instead, grab some popcorn or your favourite snacks on the way home, switch off the lights, grab a blanket, and then stick on a movie from Netflix. Just remember to let your partner pick the movie.
A Night Away – Hotel vs. Hometel
Now this is and area where we really know our stuff, because we actually supply both. We’d like to share a cheeky secret with you too, our Boutique Silk and Nimbus Emporium ranges feature in numerous hotels up and down the country. We’ve also selected our best picks here. Once you’ve got the basics sorted you can start to add the finishing touches, like rose petals and mood lighting. Here are some Valentine’s Day bedroom paradise ideas we prepared earlier.
Luxury Pamper Sesh – Spa Day vs. Home Spa
Most of us love the idea of a spa day and the relaxation that it brings. However, when time and funds are limited, this feels like an opulent indulgence. A simpler yet still extravagant alternative would be to run a bath, light some candles, stick on some face masks and open a glass of wine. Even if you’ve got the smallest of baths, this will only improve the situation by adding a little humour to the experience.
If you can persuade your partner, you could also include nail painting, body scrub and massage to the to do list. It’s Velentine’s Day, so why not.
Thinking Outside The Box – Champagne afternoon tea vs. prosecco picnic breakfast/brunch in bed
Afternoon tea has definitely made a come back over the last few years. Fortunately all the ingredients to it’s success can be readily available at home. The twist being that you will impress your loved one by bringing this to them in bed. Think of it like an indulgent breakfast in bed.
We’d also like to point out that the above can also be enjoyed solo. So whether you are a pair of love birds or a single independent flyer, have a wonderful Valentines Day to all you Sleep Heroes xx
